Aluminium alloy junction boxes with IP66 protection, for high-risk environments
The Rotterdam plant, the largest in the Netherlands and the sixth in the world in terms of capacity, was built by the joint-venture Techint E&C Italia-SENER and the TSEV consortium; it has an initial production capacity of 12 billion m³/year and three 180,000 m³ storage tanks.
The terminal meets the natural gas needs of the entire population in the Netherlands and part of Europe.
The risks of this type of environment:
All areas of the terminal are classified according to the ATEX standard (mainly Standard EN60079-10) to ensure an adequate selection of electrical systems and minimize the possibility that any leakage of flammable materials can be triggered.
The seafront installation has made it possible to identify zones 2 (limited risk) and to minimize the presence of zones 1 and zones 0 (greater risk).
Why the ALUPRES-EX junction boxes from Palazzoli?
3,000 ALUPRES-EX junction boxes are installed in the Rotterdam regasification plant.
Each box is equipped with IP68 “EX e” brass cable glands and anti-loosening “Ex nA” branch terminals.
Each box is designed for internal and external grounding.
The boxes comply with Standards EN60079-0, EN60079-15, EN61241-1, EN 60529.
The qualification of the boxes was carried out with the collaboration of the independent Intek laboratory (accredited by ACCREDIA).
The boxes are 100% tested to ensure the declared ATEX protection mode. The entire plant has been certified by Bureau Veritas.
