In order to calculate the energy savings in a lighting system, several factors must be considered:

the power
the hours of operation
the cost of energy
the number of luminaires

Let’s calculate energy savings with a concrete example, the lighting of a football pitch, the lighting of a sports facility.

Metal halide headlights are installed in the football pitch lighting system. The brightness flux from 30,000 to 40,000 lm is comparable to a 400W metal halide lamp.

Annual energy cost:
