Palazzoli illuminates the bridge of Genoa

August 1, 2020, a date to remember and to write in our history books for many reasons. Despite the bad weather and Covid-19 in less than a year, the largest work carried out in the last decade becomes the symbol of a rebirth, not only for Genoa, but for the entire country.

Baptized “Viadotto Genova San Giorgio”, it is 1,067 meters long, consisting of 19 bays at 40 meters high and supported by 18 pylons.

The new bridge was designed by the famous Italian architect, Renzo Piano, and built by Salini Impregilo in collaboration with Fincantieri Infrastructure. The client made use for the design, among other things, of the know-how of Italferr of the FS group.

In this context, companies were selected that could guarantee reliability and cutting-edge technology and Palazzoli, already a historic supplier of Fincantieri, the FS group and Autostrade per l’Italia, was chosen to illuminate the deck of the bridge.

Among the collaborations with the largest Italian giant Fincantieri is the largest MSC Seaside cruise ship, illuminated with more than 8,000 Palazzoli devices.

The bridge is a great strategic work that is combined with the DNA of the company.

About 1,000 Palazzoli ceiling lights, of the historic Rino series, have been installed for the great work. The light fixture is equipped with a stainless envelope that resists corrosion and aggressive atmospheres, characterized by a non-deformable structure, designed with the help of the most modern technologies, suitable for installation in the presence of vibrations. The diffuser is made of tempered glass and maintains its characteristics of high transparency ensuring the uniformity of the luminous flux over time. RINO's multichip LED technology ensures high luminous efficiency up to 150 lm/W and low power consumption.

Even today, Palazzoli is in the spotlight for illuminating a Great Italian Opera.
