Glow-wire test
The Glow-wire Test simulates the effects of a thermal stress caused by an electrically heated source to reproduce a fire hazard.
This test allows to determine the combustion temperature of a material by subjecting it to contact with an incandescent wire.
In the process, the plastic material is then brought into contact with an incandescent wire to simulate the possible effects of an electrical system that, following a failure, has overheated for a short period with consequent possible risk of fire.
The purpose of the test is to verify the self-extinguishing and flame non-propagation of insulating materials.
